"A Wink at the Sphinx" a three act Musical Comedy

Venue:    Bell Memorial Hall - Wallace Street, Bell Qld

The Bell Race Club's eighth annual theatre restaurant opened recently to rousing receptions and encores from patrons at the Bell Memorial Public Hall, Peranga Hall and Jandowae Memorial Hall.  This year's production "A Wink at the Sphinx" was  written by Judith Prior. The play was set in and around ancient Egypt - a land almost before the beginning of time. The Pharaoh (Dallas Irvine) and his Queen (Liesl O'Halloran-Byrne) inform their daughter Princess Fatima (Liane Graving) that her betrothed the Prince of Karnak (Adam Bruggemann) has been kidnapped by a band of feral gypsies and she must now marry the evil old Royal Physician Tut Tut (Jenny Fairall).  Younger daughter Princess Charisma (Dee Finch) aided and abetted by Rameses the Nomadic guide (Cara Edwards) set out to release the alcoholic genie Bundi (John O'Connor) from his bottle.  Their search leads them to the used camel dealer Harrison Fraud (Nancy Evans) and many other strange characters including Tut Tut's dim witted assistant assistant Pushka (Vanessa Gleeson). Held annually each September  producers the Bell Race Club are gearing up for the 2006 production.
