Bell and District Progress Association Inc. has had many successful projects and supported other Community Initiatives within the Bell and District area, some of which follow :-
Community Volunteer Recognition
Scrub Turkey Musical Afternoon
Sharing Their Legacy Exhibition - 10th April, 2005
Another major project undertaken by the Bell & District Progress Assn Inc. is the creation and maintenance of the Bell Community Website. In 2002, the Association applied successfully for a grant from Community Skills Development Program in ICT Agreement funded by the Queensland Government Department of Innovation and Information Economy, Sport and Recreation Queensland.
The result was a series of beautiful Postcards depicting scenes in and around Bell, a very informative Brochure; which is still in circulation and being distributed far and wide throughout Australia, thanks to the efforts of some of Bell's enthusiastic travellers, and the Bell Community Website which you are currently visiting. Association & Community members meet regularly to keep the site fresh and interesting and it continues to grow and evolve, making it a valuable tool for Bell & District.
More recently, Bell & District Progress Assn Inc. again successfully applied for a grant from the Australian Governments Volunteer Small Equipments Grants 2004 round 2. "Recognising the valuable work that Australia's Volunteers do in their local Communities."
This grant has enabled the Association to purchase a Data Projector, a new computer and monitor and software; vital equipment in the ongoing maintenance of the website and also in the Association's continued commitment to bringing computer knowledge & skills to the Community & Community organisations. In October 2005 the Progress Association hosted the Light Horse 11th brigade re-tracing the steps of their original march off to war, collecting participants along the way.
2006 is Bell's Centenary Year with the centenary celebrations taking place on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th October 2006 at the Bell Racecourse Recreation & Showgrounds Reserve.
The Progress Association applied to Wambo Shire Council to engage the services of Darling Downs museum development officer, Vicky Warden to coordinate the detailing of items in the Arthur Pope's Historic Motor & Machinery Collection in "Popey's Shed".
